Unit 2.3 THERE IS ANOTHER SKY : By Emily Dickinson
Metaphor:
1.     There is another sky.
Explanation: Implied comparison is made between ‘expected condition’ and ‘Sky’.
2.     There is another sunshine.
Explanation: Poet’s environment and shine of sun is considered same. Implied comparison is made.
3.     Here is a little forest.
Explanation: Poet’s suggested environment and forest is considered same. Implied comparison is made.
4.     Here is a brighter garden.
Explanation: Implied comparison is made between ‘Poet’s offered garden’ and usual Garden

Alliteration:
1.     Never mind faded forest.
Explanation: Sound ‘F’ is repeated pleasantly.

2.     I hear the bright bee hum.
Explanation: Repetition of sound ‘B’ is occurred pleasantly for musical rhythm.

Onomatopoeia:
1.     I hear the bright bee hum.
Explanation: word ‘hum’ indicates sound.

Pun:
1.     Here is a brighter garden.
Explanation: word ‘Brighter garden’ stands for choices of life as well as delightful garden.

Antithesis:
1.     There is another sunshine though it be darkness there.
Explanation: word ‘Sunshine’ and ‘darkness’ stands opposite to each other.

2.     Here is a brighter garden, where not a frost has been.
Explanation:  word ‘brighter’ and ‘frost’ having opposite meaning. It indicates opposite idea.

Hyperbole:
1.     Whose leaf is evergreen.
Explanation: Over statement is made. Leaf can’t be evergreen forever.

2.     In its unfading flowers.
Explanation: Idea is exaggerated. Every Flower fades after sometimes.

Repetition:
1.     Never mind faded forest Austin, never mind silent field.
Explanation: words ‘Never mind’ are repeated pleasantly for musical effect.

Inversion:
1.     Prithee, my brother, into my garden come !
Explanation: Prose order of the statement is changed for an emphasis. Correct prose order is Prithee, my brother come into my garden.
Apostrophe:
1.     Into my garden come!
Explanation: Poet has used the apostrophe for emphasizing statement and idea.
